Pressure Loss, Check > < Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Check

Compression, Check

Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature >= 80 °C). Use compression recorder up to 40 bar.

  Remove

Remove injection lines – see operation "Injection Lines, Remove and Install".

Remove sheathed glow plugs – see operation "Sheathed glow plugs, remove and install".

Disconnect wiring harness connector from fuel cutoff solenoid valve.

Disconnect wiring harness connector (1) from pre-heater relay.

  Install

Install Adapter KM-488 (2) in tapped hole in sheathed glow plugs – tightening torque 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft. Connect compression recorder to Adapter KM-488.

Caution

Do not allow oil or grease to enter the cylinder that is being tested, since this may destroy the compression recorder.

  Inspect

Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds with throttle valve fully open – minimum engine speed 300 rpm. This procedure is to be repeated for all cylinders.

The pressure difference between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1 bar).

  Remove

Remove compression recorder from Adapter KM-488.

  Install

Connect wiring harness connector to pre-heater relay.

Connect wiring harness connector to fuel cutoff solenoid valve – tightening torque 2.5 Nm / 1.8 lbf. ft.

Install sheathed glow plugs – see operation "Sheathed glow plugs, remove and install".

Install injection lines – see operation "Injection Lines, Remove and Install".
