Cylinder Head, Dismantle and Assemble  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove cylinder head - see operation "Cylinder Head, Remove and Install". Remove all attaching parts from cylinder head.  

  Important!   

Before removing the camshaft bearing caps - note identification! The camshaft must be loosened uniformly from the bearing seats.     Remove, Disconnect    Detach camshaft bearing cap working in inward spiral from outside in steps of 1/2 up to 1 turn. Detach camshaft bearing cover from cylinder head and remove camshaft. Remove hydraulic valve lifters from cylinder head with KM-845.   Lay hydraulic valve lifters aside in correct order, to ensure that the hydraulic valve lifters can be allocated to their valves on installation. Place hydraulic valve lifter to one side in installation position.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Mark valves. Tension valve springs with KM-348 (1) and Adapter KM-653-A (2). Remove valve cotters, upper valve spring plate and valve spring. Detach valve stem seal with KM-840. Remove valves and lower valve spring plate out of cylinder head. Lay all parts aside in sequence in order to ensure correct allocation when reinstalling.   Check sealing surfaces for plane surface, guides, sliding and bearing points for wear - see operation "Cylinder Head, Overhaul".     Install, Connect    Coat valves with engine oil, and insert into cylinder head - note mark made on valves. Coat valve stem with engine oil. Carefully drive in new valve stem seal (3) with KM-835-A until the stop. Tension valve spring and upper valve head with KM-348 and Adapter KM-653-A and insert valve cotters - ensure correct seating of valve cotters. Coat hydraulic valve lifter with oil and insert into cylinder head - note installation position.   Install all attaching parts in cylinder head. Install cylinder head - see operation "Cylinder Head, Remove and Install".
