Automatic Transmission with Torque Converter from
Engine, Remove and Install
 Remove
Remove engine – see operation "Engine, Remove and
Install".

Detach oxygen sensor (1) and (2) wiring harness plugs.
Detach exhaust system (3) and (4) from exhaust manifold.
|
|
|
Detach wiring harness plugs (3) and (4) from wiring harness plug
bracket. Remove wiring harness plug bracket from engine transport
shackle.
Remove ground strap (5) from oil pan.
Detach engine transport shackle cover (1) from engine transport
shackle.
Remove oil filler port (2) in direction of arrow from cylinder
head cover.
Attach Retaining Cables KM-2358 to engine transport shackles.
Suspend retaining cables from workshop crane and lift workshop
crane until retaining cables are taut.

Remove fastening nuts (1) and (2) from engine damping
blocks.
Lift out engine from front axle body with workshop crane.
|
|
|
Remove left (1) engine damping block bracket from cylinder
block.
Detach wiring harness from right engine damping block (3).
Remove right (2) engine damping block bracket from cylinder
block.
|
|
|
Attach KM-412-13 (1) and (2) to cylinder block.
Attach engine to KM-412 (3).
|
|
|
Remove heat shield (7) from transmission.
Disconnect wiring harness plug (5) from wiring harness for
selector lever position switch, transmission speed sensor (3),
auxiliary housing (4), main housing (6) and rear transmission
holder (2).
Unclip wiring harness (1) from transmission and lay aside.
Disconnect transmission vent hose (8) from transmission.

Remove closure plugs for torque converter housing (arrow) and
(2).
Remove fastening bolts (1) from torque converter.
Detach transmission fastening bolts (3) and (4) from upper part
of oil pan.
Suspend transmission on workshop crane.

|
|
Detach transmission fastening bolts (1), (2) and (3) from
cylinder block.
Remove transmission from engine – ensure that the torque
converter is not pulled out of the transmission at the same
time.
Install
Mount transmission on engine and attach to cylinder block with
transmission fastening bolts (M12) – tightening torque 60 Nm
/ 44.3 lbf. ft.
Install transmission fastening bolts (M8) to upper part of oil
pan – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Detach transmission from workshop crane.
Attach torque converter to drive disc – tightening torque
30 Nm / 22 lbf. ft. Install closure plugs for torque converter
housing.

Connect transmission vent hose to transmission. Route wiring
harness and clip to transmission.
Connect all wiring harness plugs. Attach heat shield to
transmission.
Suspend engine from workshop crane with retaining cables and
lift workshop crane until retaining cables are taut.
Remove
Remove engine from KM-412.
Remove KM-412-13 from engine.
Install
Attach bracket for engine damping block, right and left, to
cylinder block – tightening torque 40 Nm / 30 lbf. ft.
Place engine on front axle body and attach to engine damping
blocks with fastening nuts – tightening torque 40 Nm / 30
lbf. ft.
Remove
Remove retaining cables from engine transport shackles
Install
Attach oil filler port to cylinder head cover. Attach engine
transport shackle cover to engine transport shackle.
Attach ground strap to oil pan. Attach wiring harness plug
bracket to engine transport shackle and wiring harness plug to
wiring harness plug bracket.
Attach exhaust system to exhaust manifold - tightening torque 30
Nm / 22.1 lbf. ft.
Connect oxygen sensor wiring harness plugs.
Install engine – see operation "Engine, Remove and
Install".
