Digital Diesel Electronics DDE 2.1 Quick Check F5: ACTUATOR TEST

FUEL CUTOFF SOL

Conditions for Checking

Nominal Value

Affected Terminals: 3, 18

Possible Trouble Codes: 54

This check can be performed in two operating conditions: "ignition ON, engine OFF and "engine running at idle speed".

The first part of the test should be carried out if the engine cannot be started;

otherwise the second part allows precise diagnosis (if possible, the test should always be performed at idle speed, as in that condition the function of the fuel cutoff solenoid can be checked more effectively).

As the test is supposed to be performed with the engine running at idle speed,. TECH 1 recommends this accordingly. If the test is being performed with the ignition ON, this can be ignored.

Check 1:

Ignition ON

Engine OFF

Press F5 in the system main menu, select desired test with arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow instructions in the TECH 1 display.

Note:

The fuel cutoff solenoid valve is switched off.

Check 2:

Engine running at idle speed

Accelerator pedal not actuated

Noise check:

One very soft click from fuel cutoff solenoid valve

Press F5 in the system main menu, select desired test with arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow instructions in the TECH 1 display.

Note:

The fuel cutoff solenoid valve is switched off.

After this test, the engine can only be started again after the ignition is switched off and a few seconds have elapsed. The engine can then be started again without difficulty.

The engine stalls.
