Remove ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install". Remove cable from retaining clips (1). Disconnect wiring harness plug (2) for knock sensor. Attach separate cable of approx. 1 m length to wiring harness plug for knock sensor. Note cable routing – cable for knock sensor runs between auxiliary aggregates support and cylinder block.

The entire contact surface of the knock sensor (1) must lie directly on the cylinder block – ensure utmost cleanliness. Do not use normal washer, spring washer or toothed washer. Maintain tightening torque exactly.

  Install

Attach knock sensor (1) to cylinder block – 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. Fasten knock sensor cable to separately attached cable and route between auxiliary aggregates support and cylinder block. Guide cable (2) for knock sensor out to retaining shackle (3) for power steering pump. Remove separately attached cable.

Caution

When routing cable for knock sensor, ensure that it does not come into contact with the exhaust manifold or rotating parts (ribbed V-belt).

Attach left engine bracket to cylinder block – tightening torque 40 Nm / 29.5 lbf. ft.

Install left engine damping block – see operation "Engine Damping Blocks, Remove and Install".

Attach belt pulley to power steering pump – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. + 30° + 15°.

Connect wiring harness plug for knock sensor (2), fasten cable to retaining clips (1).

Install ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".
