Emergency Characteristics

 

The SIMTEC 56.0 / 56.1 engine management system has emergency characteristics, i. e. in the event of certain components malfunctioning, replacement values are available which enable the vehicle to be driven to the nearest workshop.

 

Notes on "Engine Does Not Start"

 

TECH 1 refers to table 4 if data is received from the control unit, no trouble codes are stored, but the engine still does not start.

 

·     Connect TECH 80

·     Identify vehicle and select test program "Workshop Test".

 

In this special test program, all information required for correct engine starting is collected, evaluated and displayed.

If TECH 80 is not available, perform the following checks:

 

·     Battery (see also FO: DATA LIST, test step no. 01)

 

·     Deactivation of anti - theft warning system / immobilizer

 

·     Voltage supply of engine control unit K69 (see also table 1, test step no. 7 and 8)

 

·     Starter or starter relay

 

·     Fuel supply and FUEL TANK VENT (see also F5: ACTUATOR TEST, test step no. 3)

 

·     Compression

 

·     Primary voltage

 

·     Secondary voltage (see also F5: ACTUATOR TEST, test step no. 1.2)

 

·     Injection signal (see also FO: DATA LIST, test step no. 22)

 

·     Engine speed signal (see also FO: DATA LIST, test step no. 22)
