Throttle Body, Remove and Install (X 20 XEV)
 Remove
|
Disconnect ground cable from battery.
Remove or detach wiring harness plug (1) from intake air
temperature sensor, wiring harness plug (2) from hot film mass air
flowmeter and crankcase ventilation hose (3) from cylinder head
cover.
Remove air intake hose from throttle body and air cleaner
housing. Lay air intake hose to the side.
Remove wiring harness plug from throttle valve
potentiometer.
Disconnect wiring harness plug (4) from idle speed stepper
motor.
Detach Bowden cable (5) from throttle body.
If present: Detach Bowden cable for cruise control from fuel
distributor pipe adapter.

Caution
Fuel escapes, observe safety regulations and national
legislation. Depressurise fuel using Fuel Pressure Gauge
KM-J-34730-91 via test connection (2) – collect escaping fuel
in suitable container.
Remove
Remove fastening clamp (1) for fuel distributor pipe adapter
from Bowden cable bracket. Remove fuel supply line (3) from fuel
distributor pipe adapter – counterhold at fuel distributor
pipe adapter.
Detach vacuum hose for tank vent valve (4) from throttle
body.
Detach coolant hoses (5) from throttle body – collect
escaping coolant.

Remove
Remove 4 fastening bolts (1) and remove throttle body from
intake manifold.
Caution
Mask intake manifold opening – foreign objects can cause
severe engine damage.
Remove
If present: Remove cruise control Bowden cable (2) from ball
head. Press together clip (3) and remove cruise control Bowden
cable from Bowden cable bracket. Remove throttle body.
Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket remnants.
Ensure utmost cleanliness – do not damage sealing
surfaces.

Install
If present: insert cruise control Bowden cable into Bowden cable
bracket – ensure correct seating of clip. Attach cruise
control Bowden cable to ball head.
Attach throttle body with new gasket to intake manifold –
tightening torque 9 Nm / 6.5 lbf. ft.
Attach vacuum hose for tank vent valve and coolant hoses to
throttle body.
Fasten fuel feed line to fuel distributor pipe adapter –
counterhold on fuel distributor pipe adapter. Attach fastening
clamp for fuel distributor pipe adapter to Bowden cable bracket and
closure cap to test connection.
Connect wiring harness plug to idle speed stepper motor. Attach
accelerator Bowden cable to throttle body.
If present: Attach Bowden cable for cruise control to fuel
distributor pipe adapter.
Attach wiring harness plug to throttle valve potentiometer.
Attach air intake hose to throttle body and to air cleaner
housing. Attach wiring harness plug to intake air temperature
sensor and hot film mass air flowmeter. Attach crankcase
ventilation hose to cylinder head cover.
Connect ground cable to battery.
Top up and bleed cooling system – see operation "Cooling
System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for
Leaks".
