Hydraulic Valve Lifter, Remove and Install (Cylinder Head Installed)

  Remove

Remove wiring trough and crankcase vent hoses from camshaft housing cover. Remove camshaft housing cover from camshaft housing.

  Adjust

At fastening bolt of toothed belt drive gear, turn crankshaft in engine rotational direction until cam (1) of hydraulic valve lifter being replaced is vertical.

  Remove

At the relevant cylinder, disconnect spark plug connector, remove spark plug with KM-194-E. Place KM-565-A (2) onto camshaft housing and valve spring plate and tension valve springs. Remove cam follower (3) out of camshaft housing – note thrust pieces. Remove hydraulic valve lifter out of camshaft housing.

  Install

Insert hydraulic valve lifter (1) in camshaft housing. Coat sliding surfaces of the cam follower with MoS 2 lubricating paste (grey) and insert in camshaft housing.

  Adjust

Adjustment of the hydraulic valve lifter is no longer required, as pre-tensioning has been taken into account in design.

  Install

Remove KM-565-A, install spark plugs in cylinder head – tightening torque 20 Nm / 14.7 lbf. ft. Connect spark plug connectors.

Attach camshaft housing cover to camshaft housing – 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. Attach crankcase ventilation hoses to camshaft housing cover. Attach wiring trough to camshaft housing cover – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
