Cylinder head, check for plane surface

Special service tool required:

Straightedge

Caution

Remove gasket residue and clean sealing surfaces. No sharp-edged tools may be used when cleaning. Ensure that the cylinder head sealing surface is not damaged.

Note:   For diesel engines the glow plugs and if necessary the swirl chambers must be removed.

  Inspect

Using a straightedge, check the cylinder head for flexion lengthways and widthways and for distortion in the diagonal.
