Cylinder Head, Camshaft, Camshaft Drive and Valves

 

The above mentioned pads have been taken over unchanged from the C 20 NE OHC petrol engine.

 

The engine vent hose, however, is no longer on the camshaft housing, but is now attached to the camshaft housing cover.

 

In addition, a new design of camshaft housing and oil filler cover is used.

A valve spacer ring is installed on the exhaust valve in place of the valve rotator.

Toothed belt routing

 

The toothed belt routing and the automatic tensioner (function principle 2) correspond to those in the C 20 NE OHC petrol engine from the Astra - F (Model Year 93).

A DIS ignition module is installed in place of the high voltage distributor in the C 20 NE OHC petro engine.

cover with a paper gasket seals the camshaft housing. The radial shaft seal ring in the camshaft housing is no longer used.

Heat sleeves

 

Heat sleeves are screwed into the cylinder head to counteract the problem of charred spark plug connectors.

 

Remove heat sleeves using KM - 834 (1).

 

·  Service

 

Heat sleeves must be installed in the cylinder head coated with Moiycote Paste 19 48 569

(90 513 210).Tightening torque - 30 Nm / 22 lbf. ft.

The above change has led to the introduction of size 16 spark plugs and adapted spark plug connectors. The tightening torque of 25 Nm / 1 8 lbf. ft remains the same (use Installer KM - 1 94 - B).

 

Note:

 

Reworking of the size 16 spark plug thread is, as for all DOHC petrol engines, not possible.
