Note: Electronic cruise control

For vehicles with diesel engine or petrol engine with engine designation "Z", there is no mechanical connection between accelerator pedal and injection pump. These vehicles are equipped with the so-called "electronic accelerator pedal". A sensor fitted to the accelerator pedal transmits signals to the control unit, which calculates the injection quantity for each accelerator pedal position and passes this information on to the servo motor located in the injection pump or throttle valve.

Therefore, an additional actuator for the electronic cruise control is not required, as is the case for petrol engines with conventional mechanical accelerator pedals, as this function is transferred to the servo motor integrated into the injection pump or throttle valve.

Post 98 models incorporate the following modifications for the electronic cruise control:

For vehicles with diesel engine or petrol engine with engine designation "Z", the electronic cruise control is integrated into the engine control unit.

For vehicles with petrol engines with conventional mechanical accelerator pedals, the cruise control unit must be programmed using TECH 2 during service. Vehicle type and engine version can be determined by entering various program codes.

For vehicles with diesel engine or petrol engine with engine designation "Z", actuation of the cruise control function switch (in the turn signal lever) is performed differently with respect to the familiar X 25 DT. For this reason, turn signal levers are not interchangeable. Specifications in the EPC must be observed during service.
