Unscrew propshaft (1) from transmission flange and push
together. Disconnect exhaust pipe between catalytic converter and
front muffler. (6 cylinder engines: 2 exhaust pipes "2").
Support transmission with hydraulic jack.
Unscrew transmission crossmember from vehicle floor
(arrows).
Lower transmission by approx. 2 cm, so that pushed together the
propshaft can be moved past the exhaust bracket. Secure
propshaft.
Counterhold transmission flange using KM-623 (1) and unscrew nut
for output flange (socket size 30, extra long).
Remove output flange from main shaft, KM-628-A (1). Lever seal
ring out of transmission housing nose piece.
Install
Coat seal ring with transmission fluid and drive in flush with
KM-629-1 (1).
Drive transmission flange onto main shaft up to stop.
Counterhold transmission flange using KM-623 (1).
Coat thread of nut with locking compound and screw nut on.
Torque
Drive flange to transmission – 150 Nm / 111 lbf. ft.
Install
Move propshaft past exhaust bracket and position on transmission
flange. Lift transmission with hydraulic jack.
Torque
Transmission crossmember to vehicle floor (1) – 45 Nm / 33
lbf. ft. Cut thread and insert fastening bolts with locking
compound. Propshaft to transmission flange (2) – 95 Nm / 70
lbf. ft. Catalytic converter to front muffler – 25 Nm / 18.5
lbf. ft.
Inspect
Check transmission fluid level, correct if necessary – see
operation "Fluid Level, Check and Correct".
