For
the function test of the four ultrasonic sensors, an object (approx. 15 cm/6
in. diameter) fastened to an approx. 2 m/80 in. long length of cord is
required.
The
object (experience has shown that a ball is suitable) is placed on the
relevant seat and the cord is routed outside via the door weatherstrip.
After
arming the ATWS and waiting for one minute, pull the object quickly to half
way up the window. If the ultrasonic sensor is intact, alarm is triggered.
This
procedure should be repeated for all other ultrasonic sensors.
Note:
The
ATWS is at peak sensitivity when the windows and sun roof are completely
closed.
As
the TECH 1 data list does not contain a parameter for evaluation of the
ultrasonic signal, proceed according to table 4.4.2 in the event of a fault.
