Infrared Transmitter
The infrared transmitter is integrated into the vehicle key. It has a range of approx. 3 metres / 10 ft.
A permanent code and a random code are transmitted for identification. The random code is calculated by the infrared transmitter and the central door locking system control unit using a special code generator each time a button is pressed. The function selected will only be triggered when the permanent and random codes match the codes in the central door locking system control unit.
Two buttons in the vehicle key are used for operating the infrared transmitter. The centre button is used for locking and unlocking the doors, fuel tank flap and the luggage compartment. At the same time as locking or unlocking, this button also activates or deactivates the electronic immobiliser and the anti - theft warning system (if present). If held down, the centre button also centrally closes all windows (only version with electric operation) and the sliding roof.
The side button is used to activate the anti - theft device.
Keys, infrared transmitters and batteries (2 batteries per transmitter) can be ordered separately from the "Parts and Accessories" Department (e. g. if key is lost).
The permanent code of a new infrarred transmitter or key must be adapted (programmed) to the central door locking system control unit using TECH 1:
- Connect TECH 1 to diagnostic plug. - Switch on ignition. - Use TECH 1 to delete all key codes in the central door locking system control unit (all keys are blocked). Switch central door locking system control unit to programming mode using TECH 1.
Then carry out the following procedure for each infrared transmitter:
- From immediate vicinity, point infrared transmitter towards infrared receiver. - Press centre button on infrared transmitter twice. The permanent code of the infrared transmitter is transferred to the central door locking system control unit. At the same time, the random codes are synchronized, i. e. the random codes of the infrared transmitter and the central door locking system control unit are brought into synchronization.
Successful programming is signalled by flashing of the interior lamp.
Note:
A maximum of 5 infrared transmitters can be programmed.
· Service
Changing the batteries is included in the Opel / Vauxhall Inspection System. To ensure that the remote control is operational at all times, the batteries must be changed annually. This applies to all infrared transmitters which belong to the vehicle.
· Service
After replacing batteries, or if the centre button of the infrared transmitter has been actuated more than 100 times beyond the reception range of the receiver, the random code must be resynchronized:
- The central door locking system is in the synchronizing mode for 10 sec. after the ignition is switched on. - Switch on ignition using second key, or if the second key is not available, detach infrared transmitter unit from key: - To do this, open handle of infrared transmitter with screwdriver, remove transmitter and use key to switch on ignition. - From immediate vicinity, point infrared transmitter towards infrared receiver (with ignition switched on). - Press centre button in infrared transmitter briefly. - Successful synchronisation is signalled by flashing of the interior illumination. - Reassemble handle of infrared transmitter.
