Notes for Trouble-shooting:

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition OFF

·   Check fuse F2:

OK

·   Replace fuse F2

·   Ignition ON

·   Brake pedal not actuated

·   Check fuse F2:

OK

·   Lead from F2 to 26-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 16, brake lamps switch S8 and hazard warning lamps switch S52 has short circuit to ground

·   Lead from S52 to turn signal K10 has short circuit to ground

·   Turn signal K10 defective

·   Hazard warning lamps switch S52 defective

·   MID defective

·   Actuate brake pedal, then check fuse F2:

OK

·   Lead from brake lamp switch S8 to bulb control P25/Ter. 12 or P39/Ter. 54A or Ter. 54E has short circuit to ground

·   Lead from S8 to brake lamps H9, H10, H36 or to trailer socket XA/Ter. 6 has short circuit to ground

·   Lead from S8 to cruise control K14/Ter. G or to AT control unit K85/Ter. 39 has short circuit to ground

·   Lead from S8 to turbodiesel control unit K70/Ter. 26 or to ABS control unit U4.8/Ter. 2 (25-pin plug) has short circuit to ground

·   Lead from S8 to brake and brake lockout control unit (Japan version) K102/Ter. 3 has short circuit to ground

·   Switch S8 defective

·   MID defective

·   Measure voltage between F2 and ground:

higher than 11 V

·   Lead between starter switch S1 and F2 is interrupted

·   Ignition OFF; remove instrument assembly

·   Release and disconnect 26-pin MID wiring harness plug

·   Ignition ON

·   Measure voltage between 26-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 16 and ground:

higher than 11 V

·   Lead between F2 and 26-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 16 is interrupted

·   MID defective

If nominal values are attained:

·   MID defective
