Electronic Immobiliser

The electronic immobiliser is used in Omega - B versions with infrared remote control.

It prevents unauthorized persons from being able to start the engine.

The immobiliser is activated after the vehicle is locked with the vehicle key or with the infrared remote control.

It can only be deactivated with the infrared remote control.

The infrared transmitter issues an identification code.

This code consists of a permanent code and a random code.

Each infrared transmitter has a unique permanent code which must match the permanent code in the central door locking system control unit,

The random code is recalculated each time the infrared transmitter and the central door locking system control unit are activated.

The immobiliser is only deactivated when the transmitted permanent and random codes match the codes in the central door locking system control unit.

There are over 260,000 combinations of permanent and random codes.

This deactivation process, which is independent of the door locks, prevents the immobiliser from being influenced by manipulation of these locks.

For function checks, there is an LED in the "interior monitor off" switch,

·    Service

Changing the battery of the infrared transmitter is included in the Opel / Vauxhall Inspection System.

For safety reasons, the batteries for all infrared transmitters should be changed annually.
