Programming of Memory System Control Unit

After replacement of the control unit or of one of the potentiometers the control unit must be reprogrammed.

During programming, all of the seat's adjustment ways are run through to allow the values for the potentiometers and the end stops to be reprogrammed.

During programming, the driver's seat and all other seats must not be occupied.

Reason: during programming the end stops are disregarded, i. e. there is no pinch guard.

Preocedure:

1.    Connect TECH 1.

2.    Press F2, retrieve trouble code.

3.    Remove fault.

4.    Erase trouble code.

5.    Press key F 7 in system main menu and follow instructions of the TECH 1 display.

6.    Switch on ignition

7.    Driver's door must be open.

8.    Do not press any of the manual adjustment switches for the seat or the outside rear view mirrors.

9.    Do not press the memory switch and the three position switches.

When so requested by TECH 1 display, "PRESS MEMORY KEY & HOLD", press memory key and keep pressed until TECH 1 requests "RELEASE ALL KEYS".

If the memory key is released during programming, the latter is interrupted.

Repeated actuation of the memory key causes the programming to continue.

The programming can be aborted at any time by pressing the TECH 1 key "EXIT".

During programming, the individual serve motors are driven consecutively to their end stops and the resulting potentiometer values are then stored in the control unit.

If a motor is not running or jams in a position, the display indicates the faulty motor and no programming occurs.

1.    Read trouble code.

2.    Carry out quick check "FO: DATA LIST".

3.    Remove fault,

4.    Repeat programming.

If the display "PROGRAMMING SEAT END POSITIONS COMPLETED", is shown, the programming was successful.

Read trouble code.

In case of repeated programming without conclusion, carry out programming again with new control unit.
