General Information

This section provides descriptions and illustrations of further practical cases.

Once a check has determined whether the plastic repair system can be used to restore the components to good working order, the quality of the repair depends on the following basic factors.

-  Good preparation of damaged area, e.g. sanded, no burrs, etc...

-  Damaged area clean, free from oil, grease and dust.

-  Damaged area cleaned and primed (use cleaner and primer from adhesive set).

-  Clamp stable enough to prevent components buckling during the drying period.

-  Operation procedure in general follows the operation steps in section 4.

-  Adhesive processed rapidly and without interruption.

Information for practical application.

•

Reuse residual adhesive from cartridges

If the adhesive in the mixing tube dries out, the residual adhesive in the cartridges can be reused by attaching a new mixing tube.

Each adhesive set comprises 4 mixing tubes.

•

Prepare several parts at the same time

In the event of minor repairs to several components, it is sensible to prepare all components together up to operation step D3.

The adhesive can then be applied to the damaged area from the adhesive gun mixing tube or as specified overleaf "Press out adhesive".

•

Press out adhesive

When minor damage has been repaired, the adhesive often dries out in the mixing tube.

If adhesive is required, unscrew dried mixing tube and press both adhesive components out of the T-piece.

Mix both adhesive components thoroughly with a spatula and apply immediately to the damaged area as required, for example using a wooden spatula cut to size.

•

Clamping tools

Depending on the application, many different clamping tools can be made by the user in the workshop.

In general, however, the user must ensure that the function of the component will not be impaired by any clamping tools that will remain permanently affixed to the repaired component.

Clamping tools that are to be removed from the damaged area after drying must be sealed against the adhesive with contour foil or commercially adhesive PE foil.

Examples for clamping tools:

-  Flexible sheet metal plates.

-  Fabric adhesive tape, plastic scrap.

-  Several layers of fibrous web from the adhesive set.

-  All types of vice-grip wrenches and clamps.
