Airbag and Pyro-technical Seat Belt Tensioner System The Vectra-B is equipped with a newly developed hybrid system for driver's and co-driver's airbags and a pyro-technical seat belt tensioner system. The airbag system and pyro-technical seat belt tensioner system have a common control unit. The hybrid system consists of compressed gas (noble gas) and a minimal amount of a propellant contained in a pressurised container, instead of the previous sodium azide tablets. When the airbag is triggered, a diaphragm keeping the pressurised container closed is opened and the gas inflates the air bag. The most important benefits are:
- minimal warming of airbag module after deployment, - low emissions, - environmentally friendly and - especially uniform filling over the entire operating temperature range.
Important: The safety regulations regarding treatment and disposal of pyro-technical units (airbag and pyro-technical seat belt tensioner system) must be strictly observed. |
