Trouble Code Table
5.6.11 Trouble Code Table (continued) Trouble code 67 can be deleted two times, i.e. the pyro-technical seat belt tensioners can be deployed three times by the control unit. Thereafter, trouble code 56 is stored. This trouble code 56, like trouble code 66, cannot be deleted. The control unit must be replaced. Caution: After installation of a new control unit, trouble code 52 is stored. This trouble code does not actually indicate a malfunction, but serves to activate the telltale until the control unit has been correctly programmed. During programming, the control unit is informed about whether the vehicle is equipped with an airbag and pyro-technical seat belt tensioner system with three deployment circuits (only driver's airbag incl. driver's and co-driver's seat belt tensioners) or with four deployment circuits (driver's and co-driver's airbags incl. driver's and co-driver's seat belt tensioners). When trouble code 52 is set, TECH 1 can only perform limited diagnosis:
• Trouble codes can be read but not deleted using TECH 1. • Data list parameters can be displayed.
Important: After successful programming, the selected setting cannot be reprogrammed subsequently.
5.6.11 Trouble Code Table (continued) If an incorrect setting is selected during programming, the control unit stores trouble code 53 as well as trouble code 52. Trouble code 53 must be deleted and programming repeated with the correct setting. When trouble codes 52 and 53 are stored, TECH 1 can perform unlimited diagnosis:
• Trouble codes can be read and deleted • Data list parameters can be displayed • The snapshot mode can be used to record system-specific data
• Service If a vehicle with two deployment circuits indicates the programmed versions "ONLY DRIVER" after incorrect programming, the co-driver's airbag deployment circuit must be checked for a circuit interruption. Important: If trouble codes 52 or 53 have not yet been deleted, i.e. the control unit is not yet correctly programmed, the control unit cannot activate the deployment circuits. The airbag and pyro-technical seat belt tensioner system is therefore not ready for operation . |
