Free-wheeling Lock Cylinder - Front Door, Remove and Install   Survey of Components   1   Roll pin   2   Casing   3   Lock cylinder 1)   4   Channel sleeve   5   Ball   6   Clutch 1)   7   Bracket   8   Retaining washer   9   Driver with lever     (central locking version)   10   Torsion spring   11   Pressure spring            1)  Always replace lock cylinder (3) and coupling (6) together in order to conform to the friction coefficients and maintain optimum operation (run-in adjustment).

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove front door inner panelling - see operation "Inner Panelling - Front Door, Remove and Install". Detach water vapour barrier, sash window guide rail, handle recess with linkage - see operation "Outside Handle - Front Door, Remove and Install".     Disassemble    Detach lock washer (1), remove carrier (2), torsion and pressure springs.   Remove roll pin (3) using 2.5 mm/ 0.1 in. drift (arrow).   Notice:  No damage is caused by the resulting hole in the bracket (4).   Detach housing (5), remove lock cylinder (6) and pull out of channel sleeve using inserted key.   Remove balls and coupling from bracket (4).

  Assemble   

Introduce coupling and balls into bracket.   Notice:  Note position of the coupling (4): Carrier (3) can only be installed in one position, recess (1) of coupling must point towards upper edge of bracket (2).   Lock cylinder in channel sleeve, detach key, install lock cylinder and housing.   Drive in new roll pin, caulk roll pin on rear side of bracket with centre punch (5).   Install pressure and torsion springs, carrier and safety washer.   Notice:  Ensure springs are correctly seated.     Install, Connect    Handle recess with linkage, sash window guide rail, water vapour barrier.   Front door inner panelling - see operation "Inner Panelling - Front Door, Remove and Install".
