Rear Window, Remove and Install - Model F19
Remove

Inner panelling C/D pillar - see operation "Inner Panelling, C/D
pillar, Remove and Install, Model F19". Inner panelling, upper rear
panel - see operation "Inner Panelling, Upper Rear Panel, Remove
and Install, Model F19". (Only for wire cutters!). Disconnect plug
and socket connection "Heated Rear Window". Centre brake light. Cut
through trim strip for glass (1). Mask off window frame around the
circumference with appropriate textile tape (2).
Note: Separate rear
window from outside using Swinging Blade MKM-846-1E or MKM-846-1P
and Blade MKM-846-90. Operations using Wire Cutter MKM-589-B are
not described.
Cutting blade must not touch the edge of the glass during
cutting.
Immediately before installation, cut back residue of bead of
adhesive (4) on window frame with MKM-846-70 to a thickness of
approx. 1 mm.

Install
|
- Rear window on holding device (1).
- Clean area to be bonded (2).
- Attach glass trim strip to rear window (4).
For re-used rear window:
Immediately before installing the rear window, cut back residue
of bead of adhesive to a thickness of 1 mm with standard commercial
scraper or with MKM-846-70.
Apply glass cement.
Note: Apply adhesive
to residual bead on glass (5) Use pre-cut applicator nozzle from
adhesive set. Never apply primer to the residual adhesive bead (no
adhesion). After applying the glass cement, insert glass
immediately with suction lifter MKM-641, press gently into the
adhesive bed and secure with tensioning belt MKM-591 (6). Minimum
height of glass cement after securing is 4 mm.
For new rear window:
Clean/activate area of glass to be bonded (2) and then wipe dry.
Apply black glass primer parallel to the edge of the window (3) -
allow to dry for 15 minutes. Apply glass cement parallel to edge of
glass(5), use pre-cut applicator nozzle of the adhesive set.
After applying the glass cement, insert glass immediately with
suction lifter MKM-641, press gently into the adhesive bed and
secure with tensioning belt MKM-591 (6). Minimum height of glass
cement after securing is 4 mm.

Caution
For lay-over times of recently adhered glass panes in
conjunction with glass cement and airbag equipment – see
operation "Lay-over Times for Vehicles".
Observe processing instructions from manufacturer of adhesive
and on package!
