Front seat back rubs on the center console. Easy damages of the upholstery may occur especially with leather trim in this area.

 

Cause:

Spreading of the upholstery surface on the front seat back.

 

Production Solution:

From MY 99,5 onwards the cut of the upholstery of the front seat back has been optimized.

 

Special part:

No

Remedy: Move front seat and front seat back entirely forwards. Loosen rotarily the rear of the upholstery on the front seat back and clamp it off from the seat back frame (6 upholstery clamps) . Remove edge protection. Put an approx. 10 mm long piece of the "hose windshield washer system" over and end of the spring to be installed. Suspend spring with a uninsulated end on the wire of the upholstery surface. Suspend insulated end of the spring (1) on the front seat back frame. Clamp rear of the upholstery of the front seat back on the upholstery surface. Pay attention to a free laying of the wiring harness on the side airbag. Put in edge protection. Fasten rotarily upholstery of the front seat back on the front seat back frame. Move back front seat and front seat back.
