Oil Filter Housing, Remove and Install (as of MY '98) > < Heat Exchanger, Remove and Install (up to MY '98)

 

Coolant Flange - Cylinder Block, Remove and Install  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove lower engine compartment cover.  

For X 20 DTH: Detach engine cover and brake servo vacuum hose - release charge air pipe on turbocharger and move forwards.  

Detach coolant hose (1) from coolant flange of cylinder block - collect escaping coolant.  

Remove coolant flange of cylinder block (2) from cylinder block.  

Object Number: 616195  Size: DEFAULT  Clean   

Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Attach coolant flange of cylinder block to cylinder block with new gasket - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Attach coolant hose to coolant flange of cylinder block.  

Install lower engine compartment cover.  

Object Number: 2396074  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Notice: 

Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

For X 20 DTH: Attach charge air pipe to turbocharger with new seal ring.  

Attach brake servo vacuum line and engine cover.  

Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
