Alternator, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System) Notice: For repairs to the alternator: see corresponding operations in Service Instructions "OHC Petrol Engine".
 Remove, Disconnect Disconnect ground cable from battery. Remove fastening bolts (2) from alternator support. Remove air intake manifold (1) from lower part of inlet manifold (1 fastening bolt) and from throttle body and lay downwards and to the side. Detach cable connections (3) from alternator. Mark running direction for ribbed V-belt. Tension ribbed V-belt clockwise using ribbed V-belt tension roller and KM-913-A and remove ribbed V-belt from alternator pulley. Remove fastening bolt (4). Remove torque support (6) and torque support bracket (5). Remove (turn) alternator with alternator support upwards. Remove alternator from alternator support. |

 Install, Connect Attach alternator with lower fastening bolt (2) to alternator support - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft. Attach alternator with fastening bolt (1) to alternator support - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft. Attach alternator with alternator support to alternator shackle - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft. Attach reaction member bracket to body - tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Install torque support - 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Attach cable connections to alternator. |

Notice: Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.
 Important! It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.
Install, Connect Attach air intake manifold to throttle body and lower part of inlet manifold - ensure correct seating. Attach alternator support to cylinder block - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft. Position ribbed V-belt - tension ribbed V-belt via ribbed V-belt tension roller and KM-913-A. Ensure running direction and installation position are correct. Connect ground cable to battery.
