Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install (X 25 XE)  

Notice: 

When replacing or laterally exchanging the engine control unit, before removal the security code must be reset with TECH 2 - see relevant Checking Procedures.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect ground cable from battery.   Remove water deflector - see operation "Water Deflector, Remove and Install" in group "A".   Release cover (1) for engine control unit. Press striker (2) for wiring harness plug for engine control unit in direction of arrow and detach from engine control unit. Remove fastening nuts (3) and pull out engine control unit.     Important!    After replacing the engine control unit, the vehicle data must be programmed into the new engine control unit using the TECH 2 - see corresponding operation in the Checking Procedures.

  Install, Connect   

Install engine control unit with fastening nuts. Connect wiring harness plugs to engine control unit and secure with striker - ensure that plug contacts and plug seating are correct.  

Install cover for engine control unit.  

Install water deflector - see operation "Water Deflector, Remove and Install" in group "A".  

Connect ground cable to battery.
