Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove water deflector - see operation "Water Deflector, Remove and Install" in group "A".   Release cover (1) for engine control unit. Disconnect wiring harness plugs (2) and (3) from engine control unit. Set cover with cable bundle aside. Remove fastening nuts (4) and remove engine control unit with bracket upwards. Remove engine control unit from bracket.     Important!    16 LZ2: Defective engine control unit or program memory - see operation "Program Memory, Remove and Install (16 LZ2)".   For X 16 SZR: with a defective engine control unit or program memory, completely replace engine control unit. The vehicle data must be programmed into the new engine control unit using TECH1/TECH1A - see relevant sub-operation in the Checking Procedures. Before installation, the calibration code of the defective engine control unit must be written on the new engine control unit.

  Install, Connect   

Secure engine control unit to bracket, insert into plenum chamber and bolt securely.  

Connect both wiring harness plugs to engine control unit - ensure that plug contacts are correct.  

Secure cover of engine control unit.  

Install water deflector - see operation "Water Deflector, Remove and Install" in group "A".
