Throttle Body (Throttle Valve Adjuster), Remove and Install (X 18 XE1)
Remove, Disconnect Remove engine cover from cylinder head cover. Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) from hot film mass air flow meter. Detach air intake manifold (2) together with hot film mass air flow meter from upper part of air cleaner housing and from throttle body. Detach accelerator Bowden cable (4) and lay aside to the rear. For version with cruise control: Detach cruise control Bowden cable (3). Remove engine vent hoses (5) from cylinder head cover and from throttle body. |
|
Remove, Disconnect Remove vacuum hose for tank vent valve (2) from throttle body. Remove coolant hoses (1) from throttle body - collect escaping coolant. Disconnect wiring harness plug (3) from throttle valve adjuster. |
|
Remove, Disconnect Remove fastening bolts (1) and remove throttle body from inlet manifold.
Clean Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.
Install, Connect Attach throttle body with new gasket to intake manifold - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. Attach wiring harness plug to throttle valve adjuster. Connect coolant hoses and canister purge valve vacuum hose to throttle body. Attach engine vent hoses. |
|
Install, Connect For version with cruise control: Attach cruise control Bowden cable. Install accelerator Bowden cable. Notice: Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.
Important! It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.
Install, Connect Attach air intake manifold with hot film mass air flow meter to upper part of air cleaner housing and to throttle body. Attach wiring harness plug to hot film mass air flow meter. Install engine cover on cylinder head cover.
Adjust When replacing the throttle body it is essential that the adaptation value for the throttle valve in the EEPROM of the engine control unit is deleted using TECH 2 - see corresponding Checking Procedures. Top up and bleed cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top Up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
