Navigation Control Unit Wiring Harness, Replace  

Caution: 

Before working on components of the navigation system, remove the CD from the navigation control unit and switch off the ignition. Always release the wiring harness plugs before disconnecting them.  

Remove, Disconnect  

 

•  Disconnect battery  

•  Remove footwell panelling (left and right)  

•  Remove glove compartment with navigation control unit (illus. G 9093 I)  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug and antenna plug from navigation control unit  

•  Remove footwell air duct and air distributor casing panelling (left and right)  

•  Remove lower left A pillar inner panelling and disconnect cable terminal from navigation loudspeaker  

•  Unclip the two outer panels (below display and multi-function switch) (illus. G 9093 II)  

•  Unscrew navigation system controls (illus. G 9093 II)  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plugs from display and cigarette lighter  

•  Remove centre console (6 cover caps, 9 screws)  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug connections X1 and X2  

•  Remove cover caps from X1 and X2, separate cable ties and detach secondary catch  

•  Use Release Tool MKM-923-15 to press the spring contacts of terminals 18, 28 and 70 out of X1 (illus. G 9093 III)  

•  Use Release Tool MKM-923-15 to press the spring contact of terminal 29 out of X2 (illus.  
G 9093 IV)  

•  Separate wiring harness plug connection XZ500 and unscrew navigation ground cable from grounding point 3 (illus. G 9093 V)  

•  Unscrew fuse box and detach wiring harness plug from multitimer U25

Remove, Disconnect (continued)  

 

•  Remove cover cap from multitimer wiring harness plug, separate cable tie and fold up secondary catch  

•  Use Release Tool MKM-923-4 to press the spring contact of terminal 34 out of multitimer wiring harness plug  

•  Disconnect XZ501 (illus. G 9093 VI)

Remove, Disconnect (continued)  

 

•  Make an overview of the fuses (illus. G 9094 I) and remove fuses F1 to F41 (if present) (illus. G 9094 II)  

•  Remove rear fuse box cover  

•  Remove red retaining pin from rear of fuse box (illus. G 9094 III)  

•  Use screwdriver to move rear part of the fuse box to the left until fuse spring contacts are released (illus. G 9094 IV, 1 = released, 2 = engaged)  

•  Use MKM-923-15 to press the spring contact of fuse F22 (output) out of the fuse box (illus.  
G 9094 V, 2)  

•  Only for vehicles with the new wiring harness version: disconnect positive cable plug connection (illus. G 9094 V, 1)  

•  Remove defective navigation control unit wiring harness, separating the cable tie holding the wiring routing in place (illus. G 9094 VI)  

 

Vehicles with previous wiring harness version:  

 

•  Bare positive cable in engine compartment and disconnect from battery (illus. G 9094 VII)  

•  Remove relay on the left beside the fuse carrier F500  

•  Remove secondary catch from fuse carrier F500 and remove fuse carrier  

•  Disconnect positive cable from fuse carrier F500  

•  Pull positive cable (routed through bonnet cable grommet) back into footwell

Install, Connect  

Wiring harness installation (replacement of new version by new version)  

 

•  Install the new navigation control unit wiring harness analogously in reverse order  

•  In addition, note:  
Bend the lugs on the spring contacts up before inserting them into the plug casings X1, X2 and multitimer (illus. G 9095 I)  

•  Before installing the glove compartment, panelling etc., connect the components of the navigation system to the new wiring harness, insert the CD and carry out a function test (see sections 3.3.1 to 3.3.7 in "Opel Navigation System" brochure, KTA-1915, published 02/97)  

•  After complete installation, insert CD, repeat the function test and reprogram the codes of units with volatile memories  
 

 

Wiring harness installation (replacement of previous version with new version)  

Notice: 

The voltage supply of the navigation system is now not routed via fuse F500 but via fuse F22  

 

•  Installation of the new navigation control unit wiring harness analogously as described above. In addition, create the following preconditions for the voltage connection to fuse F22:  

•  Separate the spring contact pressed out of the fuse box from the positive cable (2 leads) (illus. G 9095 II)  

•  Slide cable grommet over both leads of the positive cable (illus. G 9095 III)  

•  Insulate both lead ends and crimp with a new flat plug sleeve (illus. G 9095 IV)

Install, Connect (continued)  

 

•  Connect positive cable to navigation control unit wiring harness, join cable grommets over plug connection (illus. G 9095 V, 1)  

•  Insert spring contact of navigation control unit wiring harness into output of fuse F22 in fuse box (illus. G 9095 V, 2)  

•  Attach sticker "NAVIGATION F22/20A" to inside of fuse box lid (illus. G 9095 VI)
