Checking with TECH 1

The electronic cruise control is equipped with self-diagnosis for accurate diagnosis with TECH 1 (trouble code readout, actuator tests, data list).

Caution:

If the cruise control cannot be activated although no trouble code is set, the "F0:Data List" must be checked to determine whether a cancellation condition is present. If the cancellation condition concerns one of the control unit signal inputs, trouble-shooting should be started at the relevant circuit. If the absence of the speed signal is the source, the data list parameters are no longer updated.

Trouble Code

In the event of a malfunction, trouble code 55 is stored in the control unit. If this trouble code is stored, the cruise control cannot be activated. As this trouble code cannot be deleted, the control unit for the electronic cruise control must be replaced.

Programming

The control unit for the electronic cruise control can be programmed to adapt it to the different engine versions. The various program codes are allocated to the individual engine types using TECH 1.

Engine type

Program code

X 18 XE

1

X 20 XEV

2

X 25 XE

3

Actuator Test

The mechanical components of the cruise control can be checked for correct functioning using the TECH 1 Actuator Test, which automatically checks the components. If the control unit for the electronic cruise control recognises a malfunction, trouble code 55 is stored.
