ECM, Adapting to Throttle Valve Control Module

Basic Setting (Function 04)

ECM, matching to Throttle Control Module

When "Matching Throttle Control Module J338 to the Engine Control Module" with the ignition switched ON and engine not running, the Engine
Control Module learns the Throttle Control Module J338 stop positions and a comparison between Throttle Position sensor G69 and G187 Angle sensor
1 for Throttle drive.

Matching procedure MUST be performed if:

-

Power supply is interrupted (Battery disconnected).

-

Throttle Control Module is removed and re-installed.

-

Throttle Control Module replaced.

-

If when installing a different engine, another Throttle Control Module is installed.

Special tools, workshop equipment, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required

VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool with VAG 1551/3 Adaptor cable

Requirements

-

No malfunctions stored in DTC memory. Refer to "Displaying, Reading and Erasing Trouble Codes/With Manufacturers Scan Tool/Check and
Erase DTC memory" See: Testing and Inspection 

-

Battery Voltage must be 11.5 Volts minimum

-

ALL electrical consumers must be switched OFF

-

A/C switched OFF, if installed

-

Throttle must be in Closed Throttle position (Idle)

-

Cruise control system functioning correctly, if installed.

Work sequence

-

Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool. Refer to "Scan Tool Testing/VAG 1551 Scan Tool/Test Requirements and Work Procedures" See: Testing
and Inspection 

-

Switch ON ignition but do NOT start engine.

-

Press 0 and 1 buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine electronics"

Press 0, 6 and 0 buttons to select "Display group 60."

Press Q button to enter input.

Indicated on display (1 to 4 = Display fields)

NOTE:  After confirming Display group 60, adaptation is introduced and the Throttle drive is moved to the min., max. and emergency running positions.
Then, using intermediate steps, a comparison is made between the Throttle Position sensor G69 and the G 187 Angle sensor 1 for Throttle drive.
