Engine Control Module: Adjustments

Because of its adaptive capability, the Digifant control unit must be returned to its reference settings IF:

1.

The coolant temperature sensor (blue connector) has been disconnected while the engine is running.

2.

Any of these components have been replaced:
^

Digifant control unit

^

CO Potentiometer

^

Throttle valve potentiometer

^

Throttle body

RESETTING REQUIREMENTS

1.

Engine at normal operating temperature, 176°F (80°C); the cooling fan must have come "ON" at least once.

2.

All electrical accessories must be turned "OFF".

3.

Idle stabilization system must be OK.

4.

Exhaust system must be free of leaks.

5.

Engine NOT running.

RESETTING PROCEDURE

1.

Disconnect crankcase ventilation hose from emission control valve and route the hose such that only fresh air is drawn in.

2.

START engine and let idle. Engine will run from 1 to 4 minutes at increased RPM.

3.

Once idle speed has reduced and stabilized, disconnect harness connector from blue coolant temperature sensor while engine is idling.

4.

Momentarily raise engine speed to over 3000 RPM 3 times then let idle for one (1) minute.

5.

With engine idling reconnect blue coolant temperature sensor harness connector.

CAUTION:Do not reconnect the coolant temperature sensor while the radiator cooling fan is running, doing so risks permanent control unit damage.

6.

Stop the engine, reattach the crankcase ventilation hose to the emission control valve.

7.

Display, then erase all fault codes in the control units fault memory. Refer to DISPLAYING FAULT CODES, found in the ON-BOARD
DIAGNOSIS section.

NOTE:You MUST erase the fault memory because disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor with the engine running registers as a fault.
