Deluxe and Premium Cassette Radios
MODEL(s):
Passat, Corrado, EuroVan From 1992 m.y.
Condition
During 1992 m.y. the Heidelberg VIII cassette radio was replaced by the new Premium cassette radio. As of 1993 m.y., the Blaupunkt SC 88C was
replaced by the Deluxe cassette radio.
These new radios will drive only passive (unamplified) speaker systems. They also incorporate provisions for the anti-theft alarm system.
The Deluxe and Premium radios are not theft-coded when delivered. In this condition the red blinking LED does NOT flash.
The following complaints may exist:
1.
Theft-deterrent blinking LED does not work.
2.
Vehicle Speed Sensor noise audible in speaker.
3.
Radio works only on one channel due to installation of Premium radio in vehicles equipped with an active (amplified) speaker system.

Vehicle Speed Sensor input (blue/white wire) replaced by alarm system input (brown/red wire) on connector T8/1; As of production date 10/92

Passive (unamplified) speaker system installed As of Start of Production (SOP) date for 1993 m.y.
Service
1.
Program radio with-theft-code during PDI (required operation)
2.
Check if blue/white wire (vehicle speed sensor input) is installed at terminal -1- of black 8-pin power supply radio connector. If yes, cut wire and
tape ends to prevent short circuit.
3.
Check if vehicle is equipped with an active (amplified) speaker system.
To determine if a vehicle has an amplified speaker system:
-
check speaker grill on front door for the word "Aktiv" and/or
-
remove radio and check speaker connector on radio. If connector is red, speaker system is active (amplified)
If vehicle has an active (amplified) speaker system, replace the Premium radio with either Heidelberg VIII or SCS Hide Away radio.
