USB and MP3 Player Connection

‹› Never remove the memory device if you have selected the USB connection as the source. It can cause damage to the memory device.

‹› Do not insert an MP3 player directly in the USB connection, the connection could be damaged. Always use a USB extension cable instead.

‹› Do not connect devices other than USB sticks or MP3 players to the interface. It is not possible to use hard disks, USB hubs, etc. with the

interface. 

‹› The maximum input of the USB memory device must not exceed 2.5 watt (500 mA/5 V).

‹› Never insert metallic objects in the USB connection. You could cause a short circuit and damage the device.

‹› If the memory device is not recognized by the interface within 15 seconds, remove the device and re-insert it in the USB connection.

‹› Some MP3 players must be activated with a button to create the USB connection. Check for this in the MP3 player operating instructions.

‹› The permitted temperature range for USB sticks and MP3 players is limited and often between 0° C and 40° C. Inform the customer that the

memory device must not be left in the vehicle for a long time.

‹› In case of complaints, it is necessary to know the function and operation of the USB connection and radio/radio navigation system.

‹› Additional information, refer to the Owner's Manual.

‹› When the battery is reconnected, check any affected systems or components needs to be reset. Refer to the repair information and the operating

instructions. 

For the Eos, a USB connection for connecting USB data storage media may be ordered individually from VW as special equipment.

When the USB memory device is connected to the USB connection, the contents of the device are shown on the radio/radio navigation system display
and can be selected. The USB memory device power is supplied via the USB connection in the vehicle.
