Crankshaft Seal Retainer: Service and Repair

Removing

Remove the transmission.

Remove the drive plate or flywheel, refer to one of the following:

Remove the oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pan/Service and Repair.

Remove the sealing flange bolts - arrows - and sealing flange.
Installing
‹› Do not additionally oil or grease the sealing lip of the oil seal!

Clean the sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.

Before installing, remove any oil remaining on the end of the crankshaft with a clean cloth.

To install, use the support sleeve provided. The support sleeve may only be removed after the sealing flange has been slid onto the crankshaft.
Sealing flange sits on the alignment pins.

Tighten the bolts - arrows - to 15 Nm.
