Observe safety measures when working on Battery Interrupt Igniter N253.

Observe notes for disposal of Battery Interrupt Igniter N253. 

Removing: 

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

-

Turn off the ignition and all electrical components.

-

Disconnect battery.

-

Open locks of main fuse box -1- by rotating 90 degrees counterclockwise and fold open cover downward.

-

Remove collar nut -1- (15 Nm) and remove B+ wire -2- from connection thread.

-

Remove self-locking nut -4- and remove Battery Interrupt Igniter N253 -3- from connector threads while being careful of connected lines.
