Remove tabs from tail lamps.

Remove tail lamp(s), see Repair Manual Group 94 Lights, Switches, Exterior, Tail Lamps in ElsaWeb.

To protect tail lamp lens from damage during repair, apply masking tape around area of three tabs (rectangles)
WARNING:
DO NOT remove tabs on tail lamp assemblies using a utility knife - risk of injury!

Using a file, remove tabs on the tail lamp(s) (circles).
^
Paint rear lid according to manufacturer guidelines.

Install rear lamp(s) of the trunk lid and ensure proper alignment to the body, see Repair Manual Group 94 Lights, Switches, Exterior, Tail Lamps in
ElsaWeb.
