Connect the brake hose to the brake caliper.

-

Remove the brake pedal actuator (VAG 1869/2).

-

Insert the brake caliper retaining spring to the brake pad retaining spring and press under brake carrier.

-

Connect the brake pad wear indicator connector.

-

Bleed the brake system. Refer to => [ Brake System Bleeding General Information ] See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair/Brake System
Bleeding General Information.

Install the wheels.

‹› Before moving the vehicle, press the brake pedal firmly several times to properly seat the brake pads in their normal operating position.

‹› Check the brake fluid level.

Brake Caliper

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (VAG 1331)

‹› Brake pedal actuator (VAG 1869/2)

Removing

Procedure applies only for replacing or performing subsequent service work on the brake caliper.

-

Remove the wheels.

-

Unhook the brake cable from the lever on the brake caliper.

-

Remove the spring clip and pull the brake cable from the holder on the brake caliper.

-

Connect the bleeder hose for the bleeder bottle to the bleeder valve of the brake caliper and then open the bleeder valve.

-

Install the brake pedal actuator (VAG 1869/2).

-

Close the bleeder valve and remove the bleeder bottle.

-

Remove the brake line.

-

Remove both bolts from the brake caliper, counter hold on the guide pin when doing this.
