Thermostat: Service and Repair
Coolant Thermostat Housing

Coolant Thermostat Housing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose Clip Pliers (V.A.G 1921)

‹› Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Removing

-

Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] See: Service and Repair/Procedures/Draining and Filling.

Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned off.

-

Pull off the air guide cover - 1 -, disengage the clips sideways to do so.

-

Unclip the air duct - 2 -.

-

Remove the air filter housing and connecting hose, while doing this remove the bolt - A -, disconnect the connector -  B - and remove the spring
clip - C -. When reinstalling, observe the mark - D -.

Pull the air filter housing upward.

-

Remove the vacuum line - arrow - at variable intake manifold actuator.
