Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)
‹› Adapter (V.A.G 1342/14)
‹› Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B)
‹› Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)
Conditions
‹› Engine oil level OK
‹› Engine oil temperature at least 80 °C (176 °F) (radiator fan must start up once).
Oil Pressure Switch

Bring the lock carrier into the service position. See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier

Remove the plug - item 1 -=> [ Plug ] See: Oil Filter/Service and Repair/Oil Filter Bracket Overview from oil filter bracket. Collect any leaking
engine oil.

Seal the oil pressure switch test hole on the (V.A.G 1342) with the oil filter bracket plug.

Install the (V.A.G 1342) with the (V.A.G 1342/14) to the oil filter bracket in place of the plug.
‹› Pay attention to the installed position of the (V.A.G 1342/14): the cone shaped connection on the (V.A.G 1342/14) is attached to the (V.A.G 1342)
pressure hose.

Connect the brown wire of the (V.A.G 1342) to Ground (GND).

Connect the (V.A.G 1527B) to the battery positive terminal (connection in engine compartment - arrow -) and the oil pressure switch using
adapter cables from (V.A.G 1594C).
‹› Light Emitting Diode (LED) must not light up.
