Timing Chain: Locations

Chain Drive Assembly Overview

1 - Control housing

Markings on control housing

^

Lightly lubricate contact surfaces of oil seals before installing

^

Check control housing strainer for soiling before installation

2 - 8 Nm

^

Insert using locking fluid D 000 600 A2

3 - Camshaft roller chain

^

Mark direction of rotation before removing (installation position)

4 - Exhaust camshaft adjuster

^

Identification: 32A

^

Only rotate engine with camshaft adjuster installed

5 - Intermediate shaft

6 - Tensioning rail

7 - Pivot pin, 18 Nm

8 - Chain tensioner, 40 Nm

^

Only rotate engine with chain tensioner installed

9 - Seal

^

Replace if damaged or leaking

10 - Chain sprocket
