Battery Interrupt Igniter

General Information

The Battery Interrupt Igniter N253 is installed when the battery is installed in the vehicle interior or luggage compartment.

This design results in longer routing of the battery wire to the starter, which results in an increased risk of burning due to wiring damage in case of
an accident.

In the case of a crash with airbag deployment, the positive connection from the battery to the starter is pyrotechnically separated.

However, the electrical system voltage supply remains for important safety functions such as hazard lights and lighting.

The Battery Interrupt Igniter N253 is integrated in the main fuse box. It is located in the luggage compartment on the left starter battery.
