Resetting Without Scan Tool

The service interval display can also be reset manually. When resetting the service interval display manually, make sure the vehicle is coded for fixed
intervals, i.e. every 10,000 miles (15,000 km) or 12 months.

The service Interval Display must be reset

The Service Interval Display is reset together with the Vehicle diagnostic testing and information system VAS. The fault reader V.A.G can also be
used.

Address word: 17 - Dash panel insert

Resetting is indicated in the display by "0".

Note: you can even reset the Service Interval Display via the dash panel insert using the setting keys for mileage reading and time. this automatically sets

a fixed interval of 1 year/15,000 km.

Generic Example - Vehicles with Multifunction Display

NOTE: 

If the "0.0" and "Wrench" buttons are present on seperate buttons, use the "Wrench" button for the following steps. 

1. With the key out of the ignition - Press and hold the "0.0 / Wrench" button, located on the right side of the instrument cluster.

2. While holding the reset button insert the key and turn to the Accessory position. Wait for "Service now!" message to appear on multi-function

screen.

3. Then release the "0.0 / Wrench" button and press the "m" (minutes) button on the opposite side of the instrument cluster.

4. To verify it's been reset hold the "0.0 / Wrench" button again - the display should indicate the future service by the message: Service in 5,000 mi /

8,000 KM or 180 days or 10,000 mi / 16,000 km or 365 days depending on Service Interval adaptation.

Generic Example - Vehicles without Multifunction Display

NOTE: 

If the "0.0" and "Wrench" buttons are present on seperate buttons, use the "Wrench" button for the following steps.

1. With the key out of the ignition Press and hold the "0.0 / Wrench" button, located on the right side of the instrument cluster.

2. While holding the "0.0 / Wrench" button insert the key and turn to the Accessory position. Wait for wrench symbol to appear in the odometer

display.

3. Then release the "0.0 / Wrench" button and press the MIN button on the opposite side of the instrument cluster.

4. To verify it's been reset hold the "0.0 / Wrench" button again: The wrench symbol will appear together with the reset number of miles / kilometers

you can drive until the service due date. The display changes after about 10 seconds. A clock symbol appears together with the reset number of
days until the service due date.

Note: Please refer to individual vehicle owners manual for specific instructions.

Coding for "non" LongLife oil

When engine oils are used that do not comply with the VW standard for service interval extension, no flexible service intervals can be guaranteed.

The dash panel insert must then be encoded to "not flexible", i.e. to a period of a distance. Then the known service intervals (15,000 km/1 year) apply.
