Sensor Bracket, Attaching in Bumper Cover

Bonding of sensor bracket into rear bumper cover is performed in the same way. To assist in aligning the sensor retainers in their proper positions when
bonding, sensor location punched holes with corresponding retainer bonding areas are marked on the inside of the bumper cover. If sensor bracket is
glued on at an offset > 3 degrees, it may cause ground echoes and thus are detected as obstructions on the road. Before proceeding with bonding
procedure, ensure sensor retainer and bumper cover materials are between 15 degrees C and 25 degrees C (59 degrees F and 77 degrees F).

Thoroughly clean marked bonding area - 1 - on inner bumper cover with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply bonding agent "Scotchmount 4298" evenly in marked adhesive area - 1 -.

-

Allow bonding agent to air dry approx. 5 minutes.

Assign the sensor bracket to be bonded to its correct component location.

Remove both protection foils from sensor retainer bonding area - 2 - so that a gray surface becomes visible.

-

Align sensor bracket - 2 - to marked adhesive area - 1 - so that an even edge of approx. 2 mm results all around.

NOTE:
-

Make sure that recesses for sensor connection in the sensor bracket face in the correct direction as depicted in the assignment. Should the
sensor retainers be installed in the wrong direction, the sensor wiring harnesses will be too short.

If sensor bracket is glued on at an offset >3 degrees, it may cause ground echoes and thus are detected as obstructions on the road.

-

Press sensor bracket - 2 - with strong pressure into bumper cover for approx. 10 seconds.

NOTE:  The contact pressure and pressing time are crucial for the adhesive durability.
