CAUTION!
The removal and installation of individual steering column switch components must be done in the specified sequence, refer to => [
Steering Column Switch Components Removal Sequence ].

‹› For the removal of base carrier for steering column switches -  2 -, shear bolts of steering lock housing must be drilled out. New shear bolts - 1 -

are required for the subsequent installation.

CAUTION!
‹› Before drilling out shear bolts, always make sure that components secured to base carrier are removed beforehand.

‹› By drilling out, drill shavings can reach the neighboring components, which can lead to damage and / or malfunctions!

‹› Follow the specified sequence when removing the components.

CAUTION!
When disconnecting and connecting battery, the procedure must be followed as described in the Repair Information => [ Disconnecting
and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage
Compartment ] See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Disconnecting and Connecting
Batteries In Luggage Compartment.

Removing:

-

Disconnect battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment ] See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Disconnecting and Connecting Battery In Engine Compartment or => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries
In Luggage Compartment ] See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Disconnecting and Connecting
Batteries In Luggage Compartment.

Remove all components secured to the base carrier in the specified sequence => [ Steering Column Switch Components Removal Sequence ]. See:
Steering Column Switch Components Removal Sequence

After components secured to base carrier have been removed, the base carrier can be removed:

-

Drill out mounting bolts - 1 - for steering lock housing - 3 -.

‹› Bolts M8 - 1 -, core hole diameter 6.8 mm.

Remove steering lock housing and base carrier for steering column switches - 2 - from steering column toward rear.

-

Remove steering lock housing from base carrier for steering column switches.
