CAUTION!
Shift selector lever into the "P" position and engage parking brake before working with the engine running.

Shift Cover and Knob

The GTI knob is shown in illustration on the left.

‹› Do not remove knob if it is not necessary. For emergency release, only the cover must be removed. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Emergency

Release ] See: Procedures. 

‹› In illustration on the right: Before removing knob, pull button past pressure point and secure using cable tie or suitable wire. This prevents

button from being pushed into knob accidentally.

‹› GTI: Do not press button. If it is pressed, knob must be removed and prepared for installation, refer to => [ In the GTI handle, the button must

not be pressed
