Pull off handle upward.

Lock the handle again after installing it. Push the sleeve under the handle.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Sleeve (VW 423)

‹› Pulling Hook (T20143)

‹› Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, through 02.2009 ] See: Shift Linkage/Shift
Cable/Service and Repair.

Remove the selector shaft lever nut - arrow -.

-

Carefully pry the shaft lever - A - from the selector shaft.

-

Pry out the seal.

-

Lightly oil the new seal on the outer circumference.

-

Fill the area between the sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128).
