Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool

VAG1551 Scan tool

VAG1551/3B Cable

NOTE:  The VAG1552 vehicle system tester can be used instead of the VAG1551 scan tool, however a print-out is not possible.

Work sequence

-

Connect VAG1551 scan tool using cable VAG1551/3B.

NOTE:

-

If the display remains blank, check voltage supply for diagnostic connection according to troubleshooting program:

If the display does not indicate as described in the work sequence:

-

If due to an input malfunction "Error in communication link!" is displayed, disconnect diagnostic cable from scan tool, reconnect and repeat work
step.

Indicated on display:

VAG-On Board Diagnostic (OBD)

HELP

1 - Rapid data transfer.
2 - Flash code output

* Appears alternately

Operate scan tool taking into account the information on the display:

-

Press button 1 for "Rapid data transfer".

Continue On Board Diagnostic (OBD) procedure for vehicle system to be tested as described in "Initiating On Board Diagnostic (OBD)".

VAS5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System

All functions which could previously be performed with VAG1551/1552 can also be performed with the new tester VAS5051 in the operating mode
vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
