Back Window Glass: Service and Repair
Body Flange And/or Window Flange on Door, Preparing

Body Flange And/or Window Flange On Door, Preparing

Cut back remaining adhesive material on body flange to 1 to 2 mm (1/32 to 5/64 in.) height with electric cutting tool VAG 1561 and scraping
knife VAG 1561/8.

NOTE:  Do not remove adhesive completely. It is used as a base for new adhesive material.

CAUTION:  Do not prime or activate adhesive surface or treat it with cleaning solution. Keep adhesive surface dirt and grease free.

Exception:

If gluing will not take place immediately after cutting back, remaining residual material must be activated with activator AMV 181 800 02 or equivalent.

If body flange at area of glass is being worked on or replaced flange must be cleaned and primed after painting.
