Replacement of ECM & Control Module For Immobilizer Adaptation

Replacement Of Engine Control Module (ECM) And Control Module For Anti-theft Immobilizer -J362-, Adaptation (function 10)

If all components are to be replaced, adapt all control modules and use new key set.

Appropriate control modules must be obtained from the parts department based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and engine code.

Appropriate ignition keys must be obtained from the parts department based on the key number.

Install new components.

Before adapting components, the VIN must be input in to the control module for immobilizer. This is only possible with the VAS 5051 tester.

Adapt Engine Control Module (ECM).

-

Adapt all ignition keys.

Adaptation Values of ECM For Engine Electronics, Erasing

Adaptation values in the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be erased if a fuel injector or one of the oxygen sensors is replaced, or else vehicle may
suffer from driveability problems.

Special tools and equipment

-

VAG1551 scan tool (or VAG1552 mobile scan tool) with VAG1551/3B cable

Procedure

-

Connect VAG1551 scan tool (VAG1552). Then switch ignition on and select the Engine Control Module (ECM) using address word 01.

Operate scan tool according to indications on display:

Press buttons -1- and -0- to select function 10 "Adaptation" and press -Q- button to confirm input.

Press buttons -0- and -0- to select channel number 0 and press -Q- button to confirm input.

Erase adaptation values ?

Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Press-> key to complete adaptation.

Adapt Engine Control Module (ECM) to throttle valve control module.

Read readiness code. Refer to Monitors, Trip and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Codes)/Reading Readiness Code. See: Testing and Inspection 

If DTC memory was erased or the Engine Control Module (ECM) was disconnected from the continuous B+ supply, the readiness code must be
re-generated. Refer to Monitors, Trip and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Codes)/Generating Readiness Code. See: Testing and Inspection
